Personal Narrative: My Dream House Essay

When spending time with my girlfriends I listen to the many complaints of early marriage and having children at a young age. The never ending conversations about how everything changes and your life is not your own anymore is a bore. From the lousy sex to cheating with the girl next door leaves me confused as to why divorce papers haven’t been drawn up, and then the famous expression, “I could’ve had a career and gone places,” seems to always end the conversations. But for me this is not the case. I simply dream of having a home that I can call my own.

I could still see the beach front’s heartbeat as I drove up the winding path called a driveway. The many colors of the four seasons that always greeted me with pursed lips. A see you again never a goodbye brush against my back by the wind’s graceful touch. I needed to bring my dream alive but first I need a sketch pad and colored pencils.
There it was a beautiful one-story two bedroom two bath family home with an attached two port garage. The house made entirely from red brick inscribed with eight tall skinny windows for a touch of class and charm. The front door made from mahogany wood holding a glass panel with a painting of Mademoiselle Noire as its signature portrait, protected by a tall square column to shield visitors from harsh weather made entirely out of white stone. The walkway designed with quicksand colored tile stretching to the sidewalk would make the stroll of walking into the house an elegant one. Vivid green plants with medium leafs align the walkway and front windows for a simple touch of nature and serenity. The driveway made with black granite stretches down the winding pathway sparkling in the night’s sky waiting for its black stallion to return home. This was my dream house, my home and I needed to own it.
It wasn’t until months later that I started working on the sketches for the floor plan were complete. I had worked vigorously to get all the details right. Through the front door and about ten steps you would enter into a spacious white living room.
