Learning
Learning is the process of acquiring knowledge through experience, which
Leads to a lasting change in behaviour.
(Buchanan and Huczynski, 2010: P139)

It is crucial for individuals and organisations to have the ability to learn and to continue learning in this economy, which is dominated by knowledge and unpredictable changes. The general rule of learning is that the higher the level of education the higher the salary that you shall get.

Psychological aspects are the cause of change in the individual's behaviour with learning known to be one of these five areas of psychological aspects.

Learning is split into two approaches that are commonly known as the behaviourist and cognitive approach.

Again, behaviourist approach is also referred to as ‘stimulus-response psychology and the stimuli and responses are known to occur in two different ways, known as Pavlovian conditioning, and skinnerian conditioning or Operant Conditioning .

A theory example relating to Operant conditioning can be when pupils are awarded points or rewards for being well behaved. This continuous response will eventually stimulate the students to make them realise that when they voluntarily become quieter and better behaved, that they earn more points or rewards.

If good behaviour is rewarded then most likely it will be repeated, where as if bad behaviour is punished then it is less likely to be repeated. This is why Feedback is important as it motivates individuals to learn more through a positive response.

Reinforcement resumes affect the behaviourist approach of learning, and they include positive reinforcement, negative reinforcement, punishment, extinction.
