Surprises of Censorship
In today’s world of technology and high finance children learn and do different activities. Video games, television shows, and the internet all have effect on our society. These items take away from moral values, and it also undermines the instruction parents give to their children. We need a healthier world with fewer restrictions, and if negative commodities are prohibiting children from recreational play parents should be the regulators in what content their children intake.
Concepts of censorship have derived from the Roman practice in which two, government appointed, officials would conduct a census, supervise the manners, and the morals of the roman citizens (source 1). Censorship has evolved from then into a large scale varying in different degrees. Local societies around the world cope with censorship for miscellaneous reasons. In American society, certain principles must be acknowledged in order to conjure and continue retrains such as censorship.
In the United States of America, in regard to television media and video games, censorship usually relates to the excluding certain topics, social groups, and content from specific broadcasting programs or consumers (source 1). Censorship has always benchmarked immorality as its bugaboo. An overgeneralization has often been made in order to define what is in the viewer’s best interest. Through out America’s history, viewers had been divided into demographical categories (source 1).
There are four stages of governmental relevance on the matter of censorship which are: authoritarian, paternalistic, pluralistic and permissive (source 1). Authoritarian and paternalistic censorship is easy to impose because much of the broadcasting in ones country is funded by their government. Internally these countries close printing presses and ban all propaganda and information denouncing the states operation and control (source 3). The other two forms of censorship allow, without any force, their citizens to freely subscribe in the free market the broadcasting selections they prefer. However in America the Government disables certain audiences to enjoy all programs freely. They have created programs such as the Federal Communications Commission who regulate and control all content that is shown on air.
A change in generations often sets in place new moral standards and trends. This causes viewers to change the code of what is censored. Along side of that, pop culture defines what is gradually changed. Religion and Morality also effects what should be distilled out from the general public. The FCC also has had a great deal influence of what is broadcasted to the American people, in which has presented American society to reflect upon the American constitution and reestablish there important civil liberties.
Only so much control should be given to organizations that are in relations or that are similar to the FCC. Prevention...
